Sketchbook ca. 1900-1910

This sketchbook primarily contains the subject for the burial monument that Minne conceptualised for the Osthaus family. From his Memorial for Georges Rodenbach, Minne gradually arrives at entirely new concepts for funereal monuments such as Immortality and the Tomb Monument for Laura Osthaus. In addition, we see both Christian themes as well as the motif of the naked youth returning. Along with freely worked out, realistic studies of male figures, we encounter here, as in the other sketchbooks, loose sketches in which Minne captures the attitude and gesture of a figure with only a few lines.
