Sketchbook ca. 1891-1898

This sketchbook encompasses a period of eight years. In a few sketches, we can recognise the Small Injured Figure, the Small Figure Kneeling, Man and Woman Kneeling, and Praying Nun. What is exciting is how Minne here gradually develops from a baptism tableau the figure for The Man with a Waterskin in numerous subsequent sketches. Also, for the Monument for Jean Volders, later known as Solidarity, we see here several studies with parallel or adjacent naked, young men presented, a few times already standing up on a boat such as in the final subject.
